Suffering serious injury in an accident is life-altering enough when the injuries require ongoing medical care. But in the case of a brain injury, the body can be allowed to heal while the mind remains permanently impaired. With little or no hope for full recovery, victims, their families, and their caregivers are forced to dramatically alter their lives in order to deal with the results of a brain injury.

Summer is here and the days are longer, and the warmer days mean our roads will start to see a significant increase in motorcycle traffic. This also means that drivers will need to exercise even more caution on the already crowded California highways to ensure everyone gets home safely. While there is clearly no such thing as a “season” for motorcycle accidents, every summer sees a rise in accidents involving motorcyclists and it’s up to drivers and riders to educate themselves on sharing the roads safely.

A statute of limitations generally applies to most civil and criminal actions, including medical malpractice, because without them the details of a case can easily become distorted by the passage of time. With the exception of the recent change in California law regarding sexual assault crimes, almost every kind of charge has a statute of limitations attached. If victims do not comply with these limits, they risk losing their case simply by running beyond the time constraint.

Thousands of children are injured as pedestrians in traffic accidents each year. According to Safe Kids Worldwide, in 2015, 456 child pedestrians died as a result of motor vehicle collisions. This represents a rate of less than 1 child per 100,000 children, and despite the downward trend in the fatality rate over the past 20 years, there has been a 13 percent increase among teenagers since 2013. In 2014, over 40,000 children suffered a non-fatal pedestrian injury. Not surprisingly, pedestrian safety for children has become a topic of renewed study.

When consumers purchase a product, they expect to hand over their money in exchange for a safe, working item that functions as advertised. Unfortunately, as any product liability lawyer can confirm, that isn’t always the case. Some products can be defective when manufactured, resulting in a failure of the product and sometimes injury to the consumer. In order to gauge defective products that result in legal disputes, product liability lawyers use a consumer expectation test.

As most of us try to cram more activities and responsibilities into an already packed schedule, we tend to push ourselves to the limit. One side effect of so many of us trying to reach too many places and get too much done in an unrealistic time frame has been a dramatic increase in the number of road rage accidents. Assuming that you’ve managed to control the rage you may be feeling, what should you do if you encounter it from another driver while on the road?
